Kaye Umansky is that rare thing—a truly funny writer. Halloween 2017 sees the launch of her exciting new middle-grade series Witch for a Week (Simon & Schuster), which follows clever, unflappable Elsie who has no idea what she's getting herself into when she offers to house-sit the mysterious home of local witch Magenta Sharp. Left with a talking raven and a scruffy dog for company, and a book of instruction called Everything You Need to Know, what could possibly go wrong...

Simon & Schuster re-issued Kaye's spellbinding Pongwiffy series this October. Naughty Naughty Monster (Templar) is a fantastic picture book illustrated by Greg Abbott, and Kaye has also written a hilarious new novel, The Knights of the Drop-Leaf Table (Barrington Stoke, 2017) featuring King Artie and his annoying knights.

  • "One of our most delightful comic writers. Read aloud and chortle together, and it will work its magic on children like a charm." The Sunday Times on Witch for a Week
  • "A crowning achievement...this is huge fun and sure never to lose its audience" The Sunday Times on Pongwiffy series
