Sandra Dieckmann is an author and illustrator who works from her studio in East London. Deeply influenced by her childhood in northern Germany spent exploring outside and reading European folklore by the likes of the Brothers Grimm and Astrid Lindgren, her artwork now revolves around her love for nature, wildlife and dreams.
Sandra's beautifully written and illustrated debut picture book, Leaf (Flying Eye Books), was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2018. Her latest picture book, Waiting For Wolf (Hodder, September 2019), is a moving tale about friendship, loss and learning to carry on.
Sandra's portfolio includes a wide range of international commissions and projects, such as book illustrations, editorial, apparel and much more. In 2011, she was chosen by Oscar-winning animator and illustrator Shaun Tan as the Emerging Talent in Illustration for her image ‘Fox Tree’.
