Thomas Docherty writes and illustrates his own stories, as well as illustrating books by other authors, including his wife Helen Docherty, Julia Donaldson and Jenny Colgan. His work has been nominated for many awards, including the prestigious Kate Greenaway medal. Thomas and Helen’s award-winning picture book The Snatchabook (Alison Green Books) is an international bestseller, published in 18 languages.

Thomas has two beautiful books published this year: The Hare-Shaped Hole (Quarto) written by John Dougherty, is a poignant exploration of loss. Rights have been sold in 13 countries. Thomas' very own Into The Wild (OUP) is a glorious celebration of finding nature in the most unexpected places.

When he was at school, Thomas was always getting into trouble for doodling in his rough book. He now feels very lucky to be able to draw pictures for a living, and make up stories to go with them. Alongside his own work, Thomas dedicates a lot of time to working with school children and young adults, helping them write and illustrate their own stories.
