Jean Ure wrote her first children's book at the age of 16 and has been a star in the firmament ever since. Her latest middle grade series for HarperCollins follows the futures of two dancers, Maddy and Caitlyn, at the prestigious City Ballet School. In the first in the series, Born to Dance, new girl Caitlyn has all the grace and poise of a ballerina but denies being a dancer at all. Maddy isn't convinced, especially when she sees Caitlyn practising ballet in the gym. Why is Caitlyn hiding her talent?

Jean lives with her husband and their large family of rescued cats and dogs in an old house, built circa 1690, in South London.
