Sandra Dieckmann is an author, illustrator and part-time potter working from her studio Mama Wolf in East London. Deeply influenced by her early childhood in northern Germany, which was spent exploring outside and reading European folklore by the likes of the Brothers Grimm and Astrid Lindgren, her artwork now revolves around her love for nature and wildlife, drifting, dreams and all the things that touch her personally.
Sandra's beautifully written and illustrated debut picture book, Leaf, (Flying Eye Books) has been shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2018 in the Illustrated Book category. The Dog That Ate The World (Flying Eye Books, 2018) is her latest picture book title.
Her portfolio includes a wide range of international commissions and projects, such as book illustrations, editorial, apparel and much more. In 2011 Sandra was chosen by Oscar-winning animator and illustrator Shaun Tan as the Emerging Talent in Illustration for her image ‘Fox Tree’.
